i want to become a writer. i'm already doing that. But what kind of writer do i want to become? Right now, i want to write more shorter texts that i can share with my friends and acquaintances. Texts that come from my body, texts that effect changes and poignantly communicate however many embodied though-feelings fit in them. Where to start? Start with one or two concepts, one or two things, one or two feelings and explore their intense, intimate connections (expected and especially unexpected) to others. But remember to set limits, make them porous (they'll be so anyways, just don't try to actively make them otherwise), but make them nonetheless. The limits you set a text would best correspond with the current limits of your body's abilities. You are a fragment. You'll never be(come) otherwise. If you try to write something that isn't fragmentary (i.e. that doesn't have limits), it won't work. Your voice will get lost in attempted universality / trying to chart more connections than your current body can attend to. And without your voice, your texts will lose their efficacy, their intensities, their abilities to reach, to touch, to contaminate others' (and your) bodies. They will no longer draw attention. So: Start with one or two concepts, one or two things, one or two feelings and explore their intense, intimate connections (expected and especially unexpected) to others. But remember to set limits. And see where they take you. Be open to transgressing them when necessary. But even then, remember to limit the amount of transgressions you embark on at once. Don’t stay safe, but stay effective. You are (and will continue to be for a long time) a specific body, a specific fragment: write accordingly.
