Malassezia, you’ve decided to make your presence known to the eyes of our body. i don’t mind, but the eye-brain-assemblages of other homo sapiens around me do. They see you as an intruder on my body, my skin, they see you as a sickness, a dis-ease. Pityriasis versicolor they call you in this form. But how could you be an intruder, a dis-ease? Only if one/many believes in “my” body. But i don’t. Neither do i feel dis-ease(d) because of your presence. It’s very clear to me that this body is ours. That we have been, are currently and will continue to cohabit it until it changes shape and mode in many years. i refuse to lay claim upon this body, this soil. You’ve been here for longer than most of the ideas i now use to conceptualize my body’s existence have been connected to it. You will continue to be here long after many of them will have come and gone. Not only that, you have been, are and will continue to be a part of all of them. Co-habitation means co-creation. If you cease to be visible due to the gel they have given me and told me to spread over our body, i’ll miss you. i’ll know you’re still there, but i hope you’ll come back sometime to enter into conversation with our eyes.
